Week 4

Week 4 - the big defrost started mid week but it was a chilly one!  I'm not too sure what to say about this week.  I got my results and need to go into hospital for a minor op.  I'd like that to be sooner rather than later as it needs to fit in with marathon training.  I'll have to take a week off and I'm a bit worried about when it will be.  Some days I feel like I'm getting fitter and everything is going according to plan but other days I think I'm never going to get round.  Well 12 weeks to go so onwards and upwards!!!

Tuesday - 5 mile group run in the snow
Thursday - 45 min steady run
Saturday - Parkrun - was steady but slow due to ice
Sunday - 9 mile run - the sun shone!!

Total miles run = 21
Total marathon miles so far 73

(only 15 miles cycled - due to ice!  2 spinning classes, 1 body pump)

Week 3

Week 3 and the one word to describe it is SNOW!!  It has played havoc with the training plan and the pavements are just too dodgy to run on.  We had a lovely run in Bushy Park on Sunday but it was slow as we gingerly jogged round avoiding ice.  Going to have to swap next weeks easy week for this week.
Spent Sunday afternoon at the hospital for some scans and blood tests.  Blood clots are just a pain!!

Tuesday: Intervals (very cold - about -4)
Thursday: 5 miles (was meant to be at marathon pace but didn't quite make it)
Saturday: Parkrun snowed off!
Sunday: 9 mile LSR was only 6 miles

Total miles run: 15
Total marathon miles so far: 51.9

(Only 15 miles cycled as got a puncture, 2 spin classes, 1 pump)

Week 2

Week 2 and still going strong.  One word to sum up this week is HUNGRY!  The mileage is creeping up and my pace is ever so slightly faster.  I had some blood tests on Wednesday and I’m still waiting for the results.
I tried some new recipies brocolli and stilton soup and stuffed sweet potatoes - yum!

Tuesday: Kenyan Hills
Thursday: 4 miles at marathon pace
Saturday: parkrun
Sunday:  8 miles in Windsor Great Park
Total miles run: 19.1
(Plus 21.5 miles cycled, 2 spin classes, 1 pump)

Week 1

Week 1 of marathon training - I approached week 1 with trepidation!  Having not been too well over Christmas week 1 was always going to be a challenge.  I made all the scheduled 4 sessions (despite procrastinating for most of New Year's Day) but didn't hit any of the required paces.  I had a nice massage on Saturday as a reward and look forward to week 2.  Being anaemic I need to make sure that my diet stays on track so will be keeping an eye on the www.veggierunners.com website for iron rich tasty treats.

Tuesday: Fartlek session
Thursday: 3 miles at marathon pace
Saturday: parkrun
Sunday: Long Slow Run - lap of the beautiful Richmond Park

Total miles run: 17.8
(Plus 16 miles cycled and 2 body pump classes)
